Every swing of the pick rings out. Ring too often and the mountain answers. Listen for what moves behind the walls.
The deeper you go, the brighter the ore — and the heavier your pack. You only keep what you carry out alive.
The way back is always darker than the way in. Spend what you hauled on better gear, then go down again. That loop is the whole game.
Three rules. The rest you only learn underground.

Everything you carried becomes a death bag, left on the spot.
That mountain keeps its shape for a single raid. Go back for it, or let it go — you only get the one chance.
Upgraded gear survives. Buy a strongbox and part of the haul comes home with you too.
Now that you know what it costs.
You notice what you forgot at the bottom of the shaft.
There are things to do above ground.
Every swing costs durability. A spent pick still digs — at half the force. Have it reforged at the smith (the wooden one is free).
Turn on “Auto-repair pick (on return)” in the settings and it gets reforged every time you come home.
Stone you carry out becomes a bigger pack, a longer lantern, a quieter coat. Upgrades survive your death.
All keys can be rebound in the settings.
You're packed. All that's left is to go down.
